RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING (RT)
Radiographic Testing (RT) method is a volumetric method that allows to detect internal and subsurface non-compliances by means of X-ray and gamma radiation. It is used during the manufacturing process, operation of industrial equipment, in particular in welded joints (structures, pipelines), castings, forgings, etc. The RT method allows to detect in the welds, among others: cracks, sticking, slag inclusions, gas bubbles, penetration deficiencies and other unacceptable irregularities. It also allows to determine their shape and size. All metals and their alloys and non-metallic materials with a thickness from zero to several dozen mm are subject to radiographic testing. The radiographic testing method is characterized by minimum requirements for the prepared surface and gives a permanent image of the tested element in the form of a radiogram that may be saved or transmitted to the customer.
